Episode Recap
Arammog has claimed Viszigrav, the axe of Nelzyrrath, and torn a portal into Ylvogg’s realm to summon empowered demons to bar the Mortal Guardians’ escape. As the monstrous goristros advance, Emmie and Nesh rail against Arammog’s treachery, but he only salutes them with grim satisfaction, leaving them to their fate. Realizing the demons are too powerful to defeat, the Guardians make a desperate retreat through collapsing tunnels, dodging bursts of demonic fire as they escape Gol-Mahrazadan.
Emerging from the temple, the Guardians discover Urdahli under full assault by Ylvogganite forces and corrupted half-giants. As they race to the expedition base, they find Jozeness, Ambassador Sunfire, and Chief Garuk surrounded by enemies. After a fierce battle to defend their allies, they regroup to evacuate the camp. Along the way, Crayne’s reanimated head urges them to retrieve his notes, hinting at research that could counter Arammog’s plans. Despite their suspicions, the Guardians retrieve his belongings and flee to the western ridge, where they witness an endless sea of cultists and demonic warriors flooding the battlefield.
As they prepare a new defense, they spot crusaders attempting a retreat, as well as a group of tribal refugees cornered by armored assailants. The Guardians must make a crucial choice: aid the crusaders or defend the refugees. Those who help the crusaders find themselves defending wounded soldiers from blood-burned cultists, while those who choose to protect the refugees face off against twisted crusaders bearing forbidden blood runes—a revelation that hints at dark alliances within the Sentorrian March.
In the aftermath, a missive recovered from their enemies exposes a disturbing truth: secret meetings have taken place between Ylvogg’s seers and corrupt members of the crusade. The revelation shakes their faith in the March and reveals that Ylvogg’s influence reaches deeper than they feared.
