It's super easy!
First, join our Discord server here! This is where all the adventures take place! You can check out our open campaigns, meet other players, share ideas and artwork, and get to know us. We meet up to play over voice chat, and cameras are entirely optional.
You will also need an account on startplaying.games. This is the platform that we use to schedule our sessions and process payments. They’re super cool and offer listings for tons of great GMs alongside us!
When you’re ready to join a campaign, we’ll walk you through the process and make sure you have a great time.
Here’s a short summary of how it works:
We’ll meet with you in a voice call to get to know each other and to make sure the campaign that you’re considering will be a good match.
Then we’ll schedule a second voice call to introduce you to the other players in the group.
After that, we’ll set up a Session Zero so we can prepare you for the campaign, answer your questions, and get you all the info you’ll need to create your character and immerse yourself in the world.
Last, you can sign up for the next campaign session and get ready to play!
To actually play, you’ll need to create a character on D&D Beyond. We use D&D Beyond to handle all of our gameplay mechanics because it’s very accessible, user-friendly, and it offers a ton of awesome content for free! If you’re not sure how to start, reach out to us on Discord, and either we (Fey and Lochlainn) or some of our awesome, friendly players can help!

To join a campaign, reach out to us on Discord (message Fey or Lochlainn), by email, or by messaging Fey on Startplaying. Make sure to let us know which group you’re interested in joining.
After that, the first step in the process will be a voice call where we get to know each other and so we can answer any questions you might have about the campaign. This will give you better information about the campaign and about us so you can decide if it’s right for you. It will also help us decide if you’ll be a good match for the group.
After that, if everything goes well and we’re all ready for the next step, we’ll schedule another meeting, often called a “vibe check”, to introduce you to the rest of the players. You’ll be able to ask them questions and vice versa, and if everyone gets along well, we’ll move forward to the next step: scheduling a Session Zero, a special session where we work with you to go over more detailed information about the campaign and your character.
Once Session Zero is done, you should be all set to sign up for the next campaign session on Startplaying, and after that, it’s game time!
Usually it takes about a week, depending on everyone’s availability to meet up for the important voice calls. After that, it just depends on the play schedule for the campaign itself.
Session Zero is important! It’s a preliminary session that usually lasts about an hour where we talk about the campaign, the character you’ll be creating, and the experiences you’d like to have when you play. We’ll also go over rules, answer questions, and make sure that everyone is comfortable and ready for the first session. For campaigns that are just starting, all players must attend; for ongoing campaigns where a new player is joining, only that player is required to attend.
As per our rules, we do charge for Session Zero at a rate of half the price of a normal session.
It depends on how many players are in a group, but generally we charge $25 per player or $100 per session total, whichever is greater. Usually each player splits the cost evenly, and with four or five players, the price comes out to $25 per player. We are more than happy to offer sessions to smaller groups or even solo players, but they must be willing to pay the minimum total $100 per session.
Payments are handled through the Startplaying platform, which we use to host and schedule sessions and process payments. You’ll need to sign up for an account there and join the campaign in our listings.
Once you’re in the campaign, as long as you attend a session, you will be charged one hour after a session begins.
If you’ll be unable to attend a session, please let us know ahead of time so that we’ll be able to make sure you don’t get charged.
We are able to process refunds depending on the circumstances and in accordance with our own Refund Policy and Startplaying’s Refund Policy. If you would like a refund, please reach out to us via email so we can understand what happened and make a determination.
Campaign schedules are determined by the group and what game times are available. We work hard to be flexible and generally schedule sessions for times that work best for the groups. We can always adjust later as needed depending on what slots are open.
Absolutely! We want to share games and exciting stories with players of any level of experience, and we both work very hard to make sure our stories and sessions are welcoming and accepting to new players. We also very much enjoy teaching the game and introducing new players to the awesome collaborative storytelling hobby that we share.
