It's super easy!
First, create a character on D&D Beyond. We use D&D Beyond to handle all of our gameplay mechanics because it’s very accessible, user-friendly, and it offers a ton of awesome content for free! If you’re not sure how to start, reach out to us on Discord, and either we or some of our awesome, friendly players can help! You can find details on character creation on our rules page.
Be sure to join our Discord server here! This is where all the adventures take place! You can sign up for sessions, meet other players, share ideas and artwork, and get to know us. We meet up to play over voice chat, and cameras are entirely optional.
Everyone gets up to 3 free games per month, and sign-ups are first-come, first-served. We send out invites and reminders the day of the game, so be sure to confirm your seat. After that, be sure to join the campaign on D&D Beyond through the link in the game room channel, and then join the voice channel a little bit before the game begins.
Then it’s time to play!

Masters of the Shadowvoid is a free, episodic, professionally run 5E campaign offered by Wildewitch RP and run by Fey, our professional GM. Players can sign up to play in sessions as their schedules permit and spaces allow, and while you might play with different players, Fey is always the GM, and the storyline is always consistent. The campaign takes place in our original setting of Velanaura, a world where veils separate the magical realms from mundane, and player characters are all members of the Mortal Guardians adventuring guild. Each session is a single episode in the series that makes up the entire 36-episode campaign, and you can play them in any order you like.
You can also play side quests or custom quests that take place in the same world and storyline, so there are many opportunities to explore Velanaura and partake in exciting adventures!
A strange, malevolent power has emerged, opening dark rifts all over the world that emanate vile, evil magic. These powers surge and harm anyone nearby, transforming creatures into malicious monstrosities—and rumors abound that otherworldly entities whisper from the void beyond the stars! Meanwhile, the Mortal Guardians, a guild of intrepid adventurers ready to fight the forces of evil, asks you to join the defense of the world.
Storyline Episodes are the main episodes of the campaign, broken up into three acts of 12 episodes each.
Side Quests are additional opportunities to play in the campaign world where you can pursue stories and adventures outside of the main plot of Masters of the Shadowvoid. These sessions can occur at any time during the campaign depending on the events that take place.
The New Player Game is a special session of the first episode of Masters of the Shadowvoid, “Rats in the Basement!”, that we adjust and tailor so new players can learn the basics while enjoying the beginning of the story.

Absolutely! Fey and Loch want to share games and exciting stories with players of any level of experience, and we both work very hard to make sure our stories and sessions are welcoming and accepting to new players. We also very much enjoy teaching the game and introducing new players to the awesome collaborative storytelling hobby that we share.
No. The purchasable content and experiences that we offer are completely optional and separate from our free campaign, Masters of the Shadowvoid. They are intended for players who love the experience and want to support us for what we do. Optional content includes customized storylines and quests, custom magic items and “homebrew” reviews, and romance arcs, as well ways to book particular sessions ahead of time for yourself and your friends.
We enjoy sharing TTRPGs with everyone who loves exciting stories, and while we are tremendously grateful for the players who support us, we’re committed to making our experiences accessible for free.
